Geneva Caffee and my granddaughter, Laila

When we read:

When she comes to my house to visit or to sleep over. Laila loves books and I’ve been reading to her since she was born. Sometimes she likes to take the books and pretend she is reading to herself.

What we like to read:

Laila loves to read princess books like, Sofia the First (Cathy Hapka), Tangled, The Princess and the Frog (various authors), Doc McStuffins books (various authors), The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Eric Carle) and books about animals like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle).

When we read the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, Laila loves the bright colors of the animals in the story and likes to make different animal sounds. She's really fascinated with hearing the different princess stories and the Doc McStuffins books. The expressions on her face say it all.

Why reading is important:

Reading books stimulates the minds of the very young.
