Sally Fuller and my granddaughter, Scout

When we read:

Just before bedtime and whenever Scout decides to sit still! She loves to be in charge... so I let her pick the book, turn the pages, and finish the sentences of a favorite book that we all have read to her over and over again! Sometimes she will sit next to me and "read" the book to me!

What we like to read:

She loves Cat in the Hat (Dr. Seuss), Green Eggs and Ham (Dr. Seuss), Llama Llama Red Pajama (Anna Dewdney), Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! (Mo Willems), Maisy books (Lucy Cousins).

When we read Cat in the Hat, Scout loves the pictures and the rhymes! And especially the silly words that Dr. Seuss makes up!

Why reading is important:

Research tells us that little brains are being wired for success between birth (even before!) and age five. Reading and sharing books makes that happen!
